Technical Data
Grinshill stone has been tested for compressive strength and bulk density, as well as being subjected to the appropriate durability tests stated in BRE Report 141 (Durability Tests for Building Stone). However, no test method has been found to match the test of time and Grinshill stone has proved itself durable over many centuries.

Durability
As natural waters in the stone dissipate through evaporation or capillary action to the surface, they precipitate the siliceous content as a crystallised outer cover. The stone develops this outer patina over a period of time and is considered 'seasoned' after several years. This sealing of the surface skin adds to the inherent durability of the stone.

restoration The physical hardness and chemical structure of the stone give it a unique coherence and resistance to its customers. Full stone masonary services are available to meet customer needs. The company welcomes visits by architects, specifiers and all other
customers to the quarries at Grinshill to see the stone in its natural state and discuss specific projects.
